Tomato is on a quest!!!

That is the quest to bring the true album form back into music... And his first four solo albums, available for the first time on cd through Steven, prove it. These 4 cds might surprise most URCHIN fans at first listen, because of the downright honest, harshly personal themes coming from Tomato on them; but after that sinks in, the listener will begin to understand this side of Tomato's songwriting, and see its place in Tomato's music world. All of the songs on these albums were basically cathartic outlets for Tomato, whether painful or joyous ones, caught on his 4-track right at the point of emotion. Now, that may sound cheesey, and new-agey, but it's the truth. All of the instruments and vocals are Tomato's and the songs were all made in various NYC apartments, bedrooms, and basements by Tomato, with the vocals pretty much being written on the spot - so you're basically listening to a snapshot of what was going on at the time in Tomato's life from all of the song's elements. These cds are not for everyone, and require some heavy duty listening, but if you are a true music fan, you will no doubt enjoy and relate to the ride that they take you on, and take the ride over and over again..

The History
Long before The Sound of URCHIN was even a thought, Tomato was making some pretty heavy music on his four track - playing drums, bass, guitar and singing, screaming, and shouting his brains out. He noticed that the sound he could get out of his four track was much more true to the way he wanted to hear his music than he could get laboring over in the big studio, so he decided to compile the first album in 1994, "44's From A Calendar Fan".

"44's" set the map for the next three albums to come - all recorded on four track, each similar in their honesty, emotional nakedness, and general cinematic roller coaster ride effect - which, like a good movie, ropes you in at the beginning and makes sure that you stay through to the end to hear the conclusion; but different in the musical experimentation, song form and overall emotional vibe. Each Tomato11 album is covered with the amazing artwork of Mr. Rob Marcario, which goes hand in hand with the music to complete the package.

Tomato11 has been heard as a "Sex Pistols-Pink Floyd-Morrissey" mixture, or a "Heavy Metal Guided By Voices", or maybe a "Old Bowie-Pantera-Pixies" stew, but whatever you call it, you know it is unmistakably Tomato11.

The Albums

Willow For Gasoline Alley - 1998

Returning to the Roller Coaster musical effect of "Four Fours", this new 1998 release shows a reborn Tomato11 stretching its musical arms to such styles as the Reggae of "There Comes A Time/There Comes A Dub", the experimental groove of "Heartbeat/The Salt In The Sea", the acoustic "These Things Take Time", and the epic "The Tale Of DeSoto". Ever growing towards new musical horizons, Willow's four track spontaneity reaches higher levels of expression and emotes a positive light on the future of Tomato11.

Earth Blanket - 1997

Tomato11's first 20 minute four track "opus", recorded in 1997, tells the story of a world where all power sources are shut down by order of the leader, in hopes to give the people a chance to spend time with at themselves without the distraction of all that electricity can bring. It seems that most people do not understand the logic behind this, except for one man, who seems to have been called upon by other worldly forces to spread this word of the importance of self-awareness to the non-believers. In the vein of some of the greatest epic pieces, "Earth Blanket"'s four track experiment churns out some of the wildest sounds available this side of Yes. Also includes bonus 3 instrumental pieces!!!

Springtime Makes Me Feel - 1995

1995's bite of harsh four track reality packs a bitter taste that may not go down so easily, but will leave the listener exhausted and thoroughly satisfied. "Home (Safe)", "Stability Seize Part 2", and "Always" lead off this catharsis on a trip all the way to the extreme boiling point of "Oh The Rising Tide", then offering the calm after the storm with "Song For R". Made in the bowels of the East Village, this album captures the harshness of NYC living but also searches for the light at the end of the tunnel.

Four Fours From A Calendar Fan - 1994

Tomato11's first four track masterpiece! This album, from 1994, features four sections of music, each representing a different flavor. Includes "There's A Bright White Light", "Save Yourself", "Love Song", "Hope/Relieve" and tons of tunes spanning the emotional spectrum - some of the rawest music available anywhere!!!! This is the one that started it all!!!
